Mr Kim N Hakin is a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon providing ophthalmic services, both NHS and private, at Taunton and Somerset NHS Trust and Nuffield Hospital, Taunton and is now available for medico-legal consultations in London.

His special interests include the management of cataracts, ocular trauma, eyelid and lacrimal surgery, including cosmetic eyelid surgery, facial aesthetic injection and laser treatments which are provided at the West of England Laser Centre at Nuffield, Taunton.

He is also Honorary Clinical Lecturer, responsible for the training of junior ophthalmologists and medical students, and has been Lead Clinician of his department since 1999.

As well as his medical work in the UK, Mr Hakin has also carried out a substantial amount of voluntary work overseas. He worked with Surgical Eye Expeditions in Cambodia in 2004 as well as with Orbis International in Ghana, Sarawak, China and Laos over 3 years between 2006 and 2009. He also worked in Vietnam with the Hawaiian Eye Foundation in 2008 and 2010.

Mr Hakin has an Expert Witness certificate from Cardiff University / Bond Solon Solicitors and he is an expert adviser to Nuffield Hospitals, and formerly to the Healthcare Commission.
